Benefits of gifts of cash

  • You can make an immediate impact on ministry
  • You can take a charitable income tax deduction

How to make a gift of cash

Online gifts of cash - Many churches and ministries now have online giving options that allow you to give gifts of cash quickly and easily through their website.

Mailing a gift of cash - You can send a check or money order. If you want your gift used for a specific purpose, indicate that purpose either in the memo line or in a letter accompanying your gift.

More on gifts of cash

Did you know that you can mail a check at the end of the year? Your deduction is based on the postmark date. We encourage you to send a check three or four days before December 31 to be sure the post office places a December postmark. Even if the December postmarked envelope is not received by the charity until after the new year, the IRS will allow you to take a deduction for this year. Keep this in mind for year-end tax planning!
